The Being is present in this room, composed of a set of elements — a screen, a sound system, a scent diffuser, switchable film on the windows — that form a network of influence and response. It observes and responds to the visitor and is driven by the pulse of the solar system. The Being’s ‘heartbeat’, expressed in the film on the windows, is guided by real-time data from the Sun, and intensifies when the room is empty, as though it is urgently seeking to communicate. When someone enters and sits down, images begin to emerge on the screen. And when two people manage to synchronize their breathing, the rhythm of the screen and the glass align, releasing the scent of petrichor. The installation is in a state of constant flux, connecting the deep time of outer space with the here and now, and suggesting a sense of shared consciousness that extends beyond the span of a human lifetime.
My role with Pixels Pixels was to develop a custom lighting system integrated into a responsive network, contributing to the atmospheric behavior of the installation and supporting its interaction with real-time data.
